How I ‘Coach the Coach’ to kick start their IIN Health Coaching career

by Marla Bozic on May 8, 2014

I recently attended the first Australian conference for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and connected with lots of students and graduates. When I described some of my experience being a Health Coach for the last 5 years, it seemed to have struck a chord with many graduates trying to build their own practice.

I studied at IIN in 2009, before Sarah Wilson quit sugar and before Pete Evans admitted to activating a nut!

If we had an Australian conference when I was studying at IIN, it would have been only Joshua and I in the room. A one-to-one hang out with Joshua would have been lovely, however, it was incredibly heartwarming to see so many motivated, enthusiastic, healthy IINers with every hope of using their studies to change the world.

marla and joshuaWhen I graduated from IIN I knew a lot of information about nutrition and wellness but not much about HOW to be a health coach. What I really needed at the time, was a health coach with experience who had my best interests at heart to guide me along the way to becoming a confident and awesome health coach too.

I needed to know how to ACT like a health coach and how to treat clients in real time.

Not the social media, marketing part (which still doesn’t come naturally to me) but the actual part of BEING a health coach.

So, I hired a successful IIN graduate from NYC to guide me on my route to attracting clients and treating them. I believe this really catapulted my business forward. Having the backup of an experienced health coach gave me the confidence to work with clients with accelerated success.

After attending the IIN Conference and speaking to so many wonderful graduates, I was completely inspired to reach out and offer them the same guidance and advice that I received when I was starting my coaching business. As a result, I have created the Coach the Coach program to empower IIN graduates along their path of success, to guide them through the ins and outs of health coaching and demonstrate how to successfully implement their coaching techniques.

My specifically designed program will help newly qualified health coaches to:

  • gain confidence with how to talk to people about the coaching services they offer
  • how to organise their practice so clients slot into their lives (not the other way around)
  • how to feel reassured working with clients, knowing that there is experience behind you
  • how to manage challenging clients and kick self-doubt in the butt!
  • be held accountable to consistently move forward

So, if you’re a recently qualified graduate from IIN and are seeking guidance and advice to kick start your health coaching career and profession, schedule a Back to Basics Breakthrough Session with me to understand how we can work together to get you on the fast track to becoming a success.
