To Juice or to Blend – that is the question!

by Marla Bozic on June 13, 2014

Juicing vs blending – it’s a hot, contentious topic that’s rocking the nutrition world. Unaware of the current dilemma? Let me enlighten you;

There is currently a vigorous debate about the benefits of juicing vs blending – both have pros, both have cons. For example, some argue that when you miss out the fibre from juicing you create unstable blood sugar levels, whereas some argue that drinking blended raw kale is hard on your digestive system.

blenderIt reminds me of the 1980’s when the merits of Democracy and Communism were challenged in heated idealogical debates. Each side was convinced that their method of government was the only solution to peace and order in the world.

Me? I’m just glad we are having this debate. Because no matter how you slice it, we’re consuming more fruit and veg. Really, its all personal choice, if you like the taste of a juice and will more motivated to drink one then go for it. If a smoothie is more your style, then blend away!

Personally, I’m a green smoothie kind of girl and most mornings at 7am my Vitamix will be powered up with my favourite combo of kale, pear, ice and a dash of lemon. I am sure to make extra and put it in a gorgeous mason jar as a treat for later in the day. I feel balanced when I have a green smoothie close by.

I believe that each person is biologically and chemically different and requires a different diet and lifestyle to thrive, so I recommend:

  • experimenting with new flavours.
  • paying attention to how you feel
  • using a combination of fruit and veg to avoid a huge sugar rush

If you’d like to understand your biodindividuality better so you can improve your health, join me for a Breakthrough session. My signature green smoothie included,of course.
